Hilary Swank brings flyer Amelia Earhart back to life in ‘Amelia’

By Examiner.com
Academy Award-winning actor Hilary Swank  stars in Amelia based on two biographies of famous flyer, Amelia Earhart.  The film draws from East to the Dawn: The Life of Amelia Earhart by Susan Butler and The Sound of Wings: The Life of Amelia Earhart by Mary S. Lovell.  The picture is directed by Mira Nair.

The movie also stars Richard Gere as George Putnam.  The script is written by Ron Bass and Anna Hamilton Phelan.
In 1937, pilot Amelia Earhart went missing over the Pacific Ocean while attempting a flight around the world.  It has been a mystery ever since exactly what happened.  If she had succeeded, she would have been the first female to accomplish the feat.  Five years earlier she became the first female to make a Transatlantic solo flight.
The movie is set to be released October 23, 2009 and will surely resurrect interest yet again in the mystery of the lost pilot.
