SHORT TO LONG: WHAT’S VICTORIA BECKHAM’S BEST LOOK?

It’s so “posh” to go for a dramatic hairstyle change. How to go from short to long, à la Victoria Beckham!
Here in the land of fakery, hair grows overnight (it does not grow overnight). Going from short to long in Hollywood really just takes a good stylist and a little know-how. Before you dive into that bag of fake hair, learn these basics!
Firstly, extensions are hair pieces that come from human hair, horse hair, synthetic and other materials. Synthetics are usually the cheapest and most “wiggy” looking so they’re usually used to boost already long hair, while human hair obviously appears to be the most natural (and expensive).

There are also a few ways to take short hair longer:
  • - Old style extensions are woven directly into the hair by a thread. Sections of hair are braided tightly, close to the scalp and the hair piece is threaded in. (p.s. this process hurts.)
   - Traditional tracks avoid the pitfalls of super-tight braids (headaches, hair breakage) by using glue to hold the hair piece in place near the roots.
  • - Newfound technology like Great Lengths uses a third (relatively new) procedure that creates "keratin bonds" between the extensions and strands of hair. The result is a sleek, natural looking finish that doesn’t bulk up or create breakage.
  • - Several clip-on type extensions are also available to add temporary length.
  •
However it gets done, a few rows of extensions can transform relatively short hair into shoulder length tresses.
Adding extensions takes commitment, usually several hours per sitting. Sometimes people have to take breaks over a period of days. No matter what type of extensions, the pieces fall out and have to be replaced. As your own real hair grows, the extensions have to be redone.
Always remember: beauty is totally worth the expense, time, and physical pain!
