Randy and Evi Quaid claim they paid hotel bill, and arrest was ‘all for PR’

Did they or didn’t they?
According to new documents, Randy Quaid and his wife, Evi, may have indeed paid the San Ysidro Ranch, the hotel they allegedly stiffed, according to TMZ.com.
The Web site says they were sent a handwritten note from the Quaids stating there was no reason for their arrest along with a copy of a cashier’s check issued to the ranch on Sept. 22.

And the amount on the check just happens to be the exact amount they supposedly owe: $5,546.96.
The note, which is written in cursive handwriting, reads: “I promise you, we have paid our bill - here’s a copy of the cashier’s check - and this is all for PR.”
The note also states that the couple was married at the ranch and had returned to celebrate their 20th anniversary. “…paying 20k [SIC]for our bond seems fitting,” according to the note, posted on TMZ.com.
Quaid, 58, and his wife were arrested Thursday in Marfa, Texas, and accused of leaving a California hotel without paying the $10,000 tab. The older brother of actor Dennis Quaid and his wife, Evi, were taken in to custody and later released after posting $20,000 bail each.
However it seems the couple wasn’t content to simply leave town after paying to get out of ail. Evi Quaid allegedly returned to the Presidio County Sheriff’s Office in Marfa, Texas, on Friday, reports TMZ.com.
Evi confronted the officer who had arrested her, Deputy James Davis, and reportedly began screaming at him, accusing him of being a “a crooked, corrupt cop” who had come up with “a plot against her and her husband.”
Davis described the alleged outburst to TMZ as “a psychotic episode.”
Davis said that Quaid then went to a courthouse nearby and as she was leaving, backed into a parked motorcycle. The sheriff’s office took a police report, but has not said whether charges will be filed.
